I've been thinking about the idea of karma this morning. People say "karma" will take care of the those who harm others. I think this is based on a belief of "let go, let God" and to some degree, I agree with it. Eventually, things catch up with people and karma can come in different forms.
BUT....is it "karma" that is handing Harvey Weinstein his ass on a plate right now or is it because a few brave women started speaking out even though a slew of people have known he was a predator for years. I think relying on karma to take care of things is how we've gotten where we are as a society. On the flip side, I get it. It's scary to speak out. It's scary to stand up. I've lost business deals, family, and friends because I spoke up about two men in my life who are abusive predators. But what if no one spoke up? Would "karma" still play out? In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
