TEDx Talk - Healing from Abuse Using Intuition ( aka Become the Carpenter of Your Life)
Above: My uncensored TEDx talk
My uncensored TEDx Talk above was filmed by my family on November 3, 2018 in Sedona, Arizona. I published it in June of 2019, before the official TEDx talk was published on July 23rd. I was told by TEDx headquarters in April that my talk did not meet the content guidelines but was not told exactly what was wrong with it or what they planned to do with it. TEDx Sedona approved it multiple times before I took the stage.
Despite the fact that there are TEDx talks published without disclaimers that talk about intuition, once I found out that my talk was flagged for content issues I figured TEDx headquarters would either put a disclaimer on it (like they do for some "outside of the bounds" talks) or edit it the way they want and publish it without my involvement. They chose the latter. The official talk is heavily censored/edited and does not make sense in parts because of the editing. They took out everything pertaining to intuition and my volunteer mediumship work with cops and grieving parents. Here's TEDx's official (censored/edited) version of my talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zu5MZi4ezgU&t=4s .
I decided to edit and publish the video my family took to preserve the talk as it was approved by TEDx Sedona when I couldn't get a straight answer from TEDx Sedona or TED headquarters. Thank goodness for iMovie!
I've done some slight editing to enhance the talk, i.e., adding slide photos for clarity, fades, and subtitles to help make the talk clear for all but aside from that, it's exactly the way I gave the talk on stage last November. What you see on this page is a very raw, very emotional, very real talk about healing from abuse, things science can't explain, and my journey to become the carpenter of my life. By far, it was the hardest speech I've ever given—far more difficult than SHARK TANK.
THIS is the talk I know I was meant to give—the message that is meant to be shared. Thank you for taking the time to watch and share my talk. To my fellow abuse survivors, I'm in awe of your courage and strength. You are my heroes. Together, we can shine a brighter light on the epidemic of "hidden abuse" in our world.
